About Me

April 5th, 2009

1In the late 70’s I first discovered chiropractic.  At the time I was about 27 years old, working as a bartender because I had mostly given up my dream to become a commercial photographer; I hadn’t done too much with my life at that point.

Although I was very much interested in pursuing a career in chiropractic, my previous schooling experience made me very cautious.  You see, I was never a good student.  So in looking at the prospect of going back to school to become a doctor, I was very apprehensive, to say the least.  Bottom line and after all was said and done I graduated from New York Chiropractic College with a 3.25 gpa.  Needless to say I had studied real hard, and even today I am VERY proud of my accomplishment!

After graduation I moved up to the mid-Hudson Valley and after taking an associate position for 18 months I settled in Middletown, NY, where I have been since 1986.  But you know, after all these years of practice one would think that it would get easier.  The truth is that this is definitely not the case.  Every year it seems that the insurance industry finds new and better ways to cut our fees, raise co-pays, and in general make us jump through smaller hoops to document and justify the need for care.

It is no longer fun to practice.  I love chiropractic, but I’ve come to hate the business of healthcare and my goal is to convert to a cash practice within the year.  The question is, how can I do this while maintaining a half way decent life style?

This issue and others will be the topic of this blog.  Thank you for looking.
